LIT BOOKS LOGO DESIGN

I've updated the Lit Bookstore logo to make it a little more sophisticated, but still have the whimsical dreamlike feel. It could use some graphic tweeking, but apart from that, I think I'm liking it for now. Any thoughts?

The sign idea is from a store down in West Virginia called Paradox. It's a very small hole-in-the-wall book shop that served as my main source for inspiration.

LIT BOOKSTORE POSTCARDS

This is a (very) simple postcard design for Lit Books. They would be sent out to customers on their mailing list to inform them of upcoming book swaps. The different photos could be sent out for different promotions and hopefully would be kept and displayed somewhere.
I also proposed doing a pack of three postcards that could be picked up in the store by customers and sent out to their friends. By including the customer in the "advertisement", the store can gain a more personal relationship with their customers. And everyone loves snail mail, right?

Little Books is something I didn't get to focus on for this particular project, but that I'm hoping to have time to look at for my portfolio. Children's book stores are so much fun!

LIT BOOKS

So, it's been a long time coming (a very long time) but I'm finally finished with this project! Here's a few of the finished images I took and edited.

Stop by tomorrow to see the rest of the project. It'll be fun, I promise!

GIANT BOOKS AND AN ALIBI

I have quite a few projects that I'm right smack in the middle of, and most of them I'll wait until I'm finished to share. This project, however, is one I'm particularly excited about (and sort of proud of thus far), so I'll be sharing these photos with you one by one as I edit them. Hope you don't mind!

If you're new to reading this, the photos are for a big ol' project I'm doing for Lit Bookstore. This summer I took the photos, and it's only now that I'm finally getting some time to edit them and make them look beautiful.

WE SHALL SEE

A few days ago I shared an image I was working on for my Lit project. Here's another. I had a few minutes to spare after my Prepress class this afternoon, so I finished up this photo as well. The model is my younger sister, Randi and I'm still deciding what book this photo will represent... any ideas?

I started this project independently this summer to add something unique to my portfolio, but once I started my internship and other odd jobs, I realized that I just didn't have the time I needed to get it finished to it's fullest potential. However, it looks like I might (hopefully) be able to pick up on it for my Art Directions class with Joe Baer of ZenGenius (great guy, I recommend him to any CCAD students looking for a good professor). With any luck, this project will be complete in a little over a month!

Like I mentioned in a previous post, this is my first week of senior year, so I've been crazy busy! I've already turned in a few preliminary poster designs as well as some other things, so perhaps I'll post those here as well today.

Some sidenotes: I'd like to extend my gratitude and appreciation towards The Dieline and Lovely Package who featured my work recently. I feel so honored to be a part of their amazing and inspiring posts. Lastly, I'd like to thank Joanna from Cup of Jo who stopped here earlier this week. She's a huge inspiration for me and it absolutely made my week to see her comment!

I'll be spending the weekend enjoying the rain and working on homework. Maybe opening an etsy shop to sell prints? We shall see! Anything is a possibility at this point...

Edit: I feel like I should mention this since you never really know who will read-- I'm currently looking for an internship (preferably paid) or design work in or around Columbus, Ohio. I've had two internships previously, both of which I learned quite a bit from. If you're looking for an intern, please please e-mail me at rdangerfield.1@go.ccad.edu

TO TIDE YOU OVER

Things will be a wee bit slow here at the blog for the next week I think. My senior year at Columbus College of Art & Design begins bright and early Monday morning. Until then, I'll be getting all situated in my second city.

Meanwhile, I'll leave you with yet another sneak peak at my lit bookstore project. With an internship and a full time summer baby-sitting gig this summer, I have yet to complete this project. I'm hope hope hoping I'll have time to work on it throughout the semester... perhaps I'll get a professor who will let me make it into one of my projects for class!

This is another image from a photoshoot I did with some lovely ladies. The model in the shot is my long time friend Emily and she will be representing the novel Pride & Prejudice.
